Performance Brake Discs & Upgrades for UK Roads and Track

Find performance brakes for your car in seconds

PowerBrakes - Brake Better

PowerBrakes UK engineers and supplies performance braking upgrades for enthusiasts who want sharper control, repeatable stopping power, and road-legal confidence. Focussing primarily for UK fast-road driving and track days, our range covers discs, pads, fluids, lines and full upgrade kits that elevate feel, heat management and fade resistance. We deliver braking parts that balance stopping power, heat control and reliability, matched to your car and driving style. Our catalogue spans OE-equivalent replacements, performance fast road options all the way through to big brake kits for track and motorsport use. All of our brake discs and components are machined to tight tolerances using state of the art CNC machines.

Our range includes uprated performance brake discs—grooved, dimpled, slotted and vented—for cooler running and stronger bite, as well as sporty looks as a nice aesthetic upgrade. Pair fast road or track-ready friction materials, chosen for stable friction coefficients and high fade resistance, with high-boiling-point DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 fluids and stainless steel braided brake lines for a firmer, more consistent pedal. Our PowerBrakes packages are designed and engineered to provide full confidence in your brake set up. We work directly with manufacturers to offer an extensive range of products, with unrivalled turnaround and service, all at an affordable price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which brake disc design should I choose?

Honestly - it’s personal preference. We’d always recommend going with which design you prefer the most. Dimpled and Grooved is the “classic” design that’s been around for years. Slotted or our “CS” design looks incredibly clean. J-Hook are very popular amongst track day enthusiasts.

Are these upgrades road-legal in the UK?

The vast majority of products we sell are R90 approved and fully legal for use on UK roads. There are however some exceptions which mainly applies to certain pad compounds. Many of the products from brands such as Ferodo Racing, Pagid Racing, EBC Racing and others are sold explicitly for track/motorsport use only and are not legal for use on UK roads. If this restriction applies, it will be listed on the individual product page.

Which brands do we supply?

We stock and source from Pagid, Mintex, Textar, Brembo, Ferodo Racing, EBC Brakes, AP Racing, Alcon, DBA, HEL Performance, PBS and many more—covering everything from OE/OEM brake pads and coated vented discs to track day pads, two-piece bells and rotors as well as full big brake kits (BBKs).

What pad compound should I choose?

This is probably one of the most difficult questions to answer when it comes to braking upgrades. Pad choice is not an exact science. What works for one person may not work for another, there are so many variables involved. Luckily we’re in a very fortunate position whereby we’ve managed to try most compounds on the market and as a general rule of thumb, these are our “go to” brake pads based upon our experience:

  • Daily driving/commuting: Textar OE, Pagid OE, Ferodo OE
  • Fast-road/spirited driving: Mintex Racing MRM1801, Pagid Street+, EBC Bluestuff/Yellowstuff
  • Track day/time attack: EBC Racing RPX/RP1, Ferodo Racing DS1.11
  • Endurance/racing: Pagid Racing RS29/RSL1, Ferodo Racing DS3.12
Do fluids and lines really make a difference?

Absolutely. As temperature rises, inferior/old fluids can boil, causing a long pedal. High-spec DOT 4 fluids offer elevated dry/wet boiling points and robust viscosity for ABS/ESC performance. Stainless braided lines reduce hose expansion under pressure, giving a firmer pedal and repeatable modulation—especially noticeable on track or spirited driving.

Should I use DOT5.1 brake fluid?

In our opinion, recommending DOT5.1 brake fluid is outdated advice. Almost every single high temp fluid on the market is engineered to DOT4 standards, with massively higher dry and wet boiling points than DOT5.1. The minimum boiling points of DOT5.1 fluid for example is 270°C dry, or 190°C wet. ATE Typ200, our most popular brake fluid which is loved by trackday enthusiasts across the country, has a dry boiling point of 280°C, and a wet boiling point of 198°C. Castrol React SRF, which was until recently the king of motorsport brake fluids, has a dry boiling point of 325°C and a wet boiling point of 270°C. Both of these fluids are DOT4. As are pretty much all of the performance brake fluids on the market. Motul RBF600/RBF660/RBF700, EBC Racing BF307+, Ferodo Racing Super Formula and many more.

Big brake kits (BBK): what’s coming?

We have multi-piston BBKs in development for popular vehicles such as the MQB platform, BMW F8x M-models and more. Expect larger 2 piece rotors, lightweight aluminium bells, stainless abutment hardware, and pad choices that span fast-road to track, to full competition usage. These will be offered with vehicle-specific brackets, braided brake lines, and wide selection of uprated pad options. More info will be released early 2026!

Do you supply to trade/dealers?

Yes! Drop us an email to orders@powerbrakes.co.uk with some information on your company, your background, target markets etc and we can get you set up with a trade account. For garages that offer fitting/install, we can also add you to our dealer map, sending customers directly to you for a fully fitted service.

Do machined discs make a noise?

Simple answer, yes. All machined discs (regardless of manufacturer such as ourselves, EBC, Brembo etc) will have increased noise levels. It’s the air passing through the grooves, increasing cooling capacity and expelling gases. This typically sounds like a fan/whooshing noise and is most noticeable at lower speeds. Once bedded in this noise generally reduces however, it’ll never go away. So if you want silent operation, you must use plain discs.

Will a track pad work on the street?

Whilst many of our track pads are explicitly sold as for track/motorsport/off-road use only, a lot of our customers do choose to use these on the road. This is down entirely at the customers own risk/discretion and no responsibility will be held by PowerBrakes for improper usage.
